The aim of the karate club is to help build self confidence, self esteem, fitness, self awareness. We also like to help with developing self discipline as well as etiquette. Students are required to train a minimum of twice per week and will have access to competitions if they wish to compete

Meet Our Qualified and Experienced Instructors

The karate club’s instructor Marc Leacock is the  Chief Instructor of Renshu Kai Karate Association has been training for 44 years and is graded 8th Dan black belt, and a senior coach with the AMA national team, and the Health and Safety Officer for the Executive Committee 

We have several national squad members training at the club who are World, European and National Champions and compete regularly in competitions, at home and abroad

Nick Broadbent: Assistant Chief Instructor: RKKA

Full time karate instructor.

Style: Shotokan Karate.

Grade: Yondan.

Training 20 years, instructing 12 years.

Dan grade history:

He passed his shodan in September with GKR in 2010, he joined the BSKI in 2012.
Nick then passed his nidan with Sensei Charles Gidley 9th Dan in February 2015, then sandan in February 2019, and his yondan in February 2023.

Nick is a 2 time national kumite champion, plus was part of a team that placed first at the UK Championships.

Nick is the chief instructor for Shugyou karate do, and runs a full time dojo which he opened in 2012.

Nick has trained on many seminars with Sensei Charles Gidley 9th Dan and Sensei Marc Leacock 8th Dan.
